Instructions and other details :-
1. All the chances
should be utilized on a consecutive basis. If an employee, even after giving
consent letter, fails to appear for the written test, he / she will forego one
chance under the group. However, the Management will have the discretion to
condone such absence at the written test in deserving circumstances (Refer
Staff Circular No.71 of 1996 dated the 25th October 1996).
2. No employee will
be permitted to take the written test in the same year under Group-A and
Group-B, even if he/she is eligible under both the groups. However, eligible
employees may exercise their option under Group-B, if they so choose in which
case, they will not be permitted to take the test under Group-A.
3. Employees selected
earlier under any group but who did not accept the promotion under that group,
cannot appear for written test and interview under the same group.
4. Employees, who
have accepted the promotion under a group will not be permitted to seek
reversion under any circumstance.
5. In the case of
employees against whom disciplinary proceedings are initiated / in progress,
the sealed cover vacancy procedure as laid down in Staff Circular No.77 of 1983
dated the 15th June 1983 will be followed :-
(i) The cases of
employees against whom disciplinary proceedings have been concluded also will
be considered on merits, subject to the restrictions laid down in the Staff
Circular No.77 of 1983 dated the
15th June 1983 .
(ii) However, where the
disciplinary proceedings have ended in imposition of a penalty of “withholding
of a promotion for a specified period” or “withholding of increments” or
“deduction to a lower stage in the time scale”, the concerned employee will
become eligible for promotion only after expiry of the period of “rigor” of the
penalty.

Weightage on
service rendered in Armed Forces (for Ex-Servicemen employees) : Weightage will be given for the purpose of promotions from
Clerical Cadre to Officers’ Cadre in JMGS-I in the ratio of one year for every
five years of service put in the armed forces, subject to a maximum of 2 years
in total service. However, no pro-rata weightage shall be given. A copy of the
Military Discharge Certificate duly attested should be attached to the consent
letter.
9.
The candidates are required to give their correct date of
joining the Bank and date of promotion
in case of employees promoted from Subordinate Cadre to Non-Subordinate Cadre.
Only the service in the Clerical Cadre will be reckoned for determining
eligibility in the case of employees promoted from Subordinate Staff Cadre.

Circular No.31 of 1975 dated the
27th January 1975 and also Staff Circular No.80 of 1978
dated the 13th
December 1978 and DM/PE/6 dated the 27th January 1979 for syllabus
and pattern of the written test.
11. Ex-Servicemen employees and employees
belonging to SC / ST Category
:-
In the case of Ex-Servicemen employees and the employees belonging to SC / ST category, Government / IBA / State Bank of India Guidelines will be followed in all matters, wherever required.
